The Team

Our Academy Team

Our Academy team are young reporters, hosts, broadcasters, columnists, bloggers, photographers, artists, with a voice. They are a diverse group of young people from all over Metro-Detroit. Some have previous experience writing or speaking, and others don’t.

To be a part of the academy, you just have to have a desire to learn about journalism and broadcast, and a willingness to try the many aspects of the field. It takes about 5-10 hours a month! You’ll be everywhere news is in the Detroit area as a reporter, journalist or columnist. Or you might host a segment of our local broadcast.

Our young members report live from many events in and around the Detroit community. They can be seen and Winter Blast, the North American International Auto Show, Dilla Youth Day, Million Children March, art festivals, hosting a youth business market or reporting from one. The teen group have their own production company Teens in the D, with a video podcast, producing documentaries, and docu-series, as well as promotional videos for local businesses.
